World Consumer Day is celebrated on March 15 and began in 1962 in the United States. In 1985, it was established by the United Nations (UN) as the official consumer day. Social Digital Commerce estimates growth of 30% in March, compared to February, due to World Consumer Day promotions.
The date alludes to consumer rights, focusing on safety, information and benefits. It is also used to boost sales in the first half of the year, along with Mother's Day. In 2014, the first Brazilian action on World Consumer Day was recorded, where 500 e-commerces offered promotions to consumers.
